HGV, truck & trailer brake checks can be made simple, repeatable and evidential with our HGV brake testing kits.
It has become commonplace for owner operators to regularly check their fleet brakes within a "Duty of Care" regime and for this test to be evidenced for later retrieval, if required, upon request from the Driver Vehicle & Standards Agency (DVSA).
There is a subtle difference in the brake meter which is required for HGV testing by comparison to our other units and this is due to the secondary braking system which drives a requirement for an additional memory slot in the brake meter.
Many other suppliers to this market supply the standard unit (identical to our Bus & Coach Kit) to reduce the cost however in conducting 2 separate test passes and print outs for both the tractor and trailer a real risk of data cross contamination exists - calling into question the robustness of the regime in place. The additional memory slot eliminates this risk as a complete set of data is captured and printed in a single test pass as is preferred by the DVSA.
The kit is also suitable for trailer brake testing.
Trailer brake testing using a brake meter decelerometer should only be used as an indication as to if the trailer brakes are performing their share of the overall braking effort. The test routine is the same as for the HGV with the 2 printed sets of results being compared to check the overall braking efficiency hasn't reduced significantly with the addition of the trailer to the tractor.

This Bowmonk TruckStop HGV kit offers the complete package for fleet operators operating vehicles including those with a secondary braking system. Supplied in a hard carry case and with the addition of an infra-red remote printer, fleet brakes can be quickly and accurately examined before the results are printed and attached to specific vehicle records before the possibility for cross contamination of results can occur.
