If your premises has a low roofline and you want to include an MOT bay within your garage then all might not be lost if you consider a GETECH Inspection Pit Package - in fact you might be opening up a whole additional revenue stream with one!
A modern pit based MOT installation actually offers several advantages over a lift based system. Firstly, you are not limited to a specific lit platform length and so can design your pit to suit the building's space envelope. This may allow you to capture the more lucrative motorhome sector - something which might be difficult or impossible for a lift based bay.
Other key advantages include the fact that, you do not need to have 6 monthly LOLER checks on an inspection pit, and once installed, an inspection pit will last a lifetime with limited or no maintenance!
We do more than the average supplier or manufacturer!
We can supply a complete suite of modern, accurate and reliable testing equipment to test either with an assistant or as a one man operation. but we also include a complete suite of support services such as VT01 assistance, a full workshop planning service, assistance with local planning applications including changes of use or certificates of lawful development where they might be required, liaison or management of contractors - we can also even assist you in obtain the necessary finances for the equipment! 1: Do you offer finance packages?
In a word "YES"
We work with a broker with established lines to high quality funders prepared to offer funding to businesses; even new starts, within the repair sector.
Just call and ask for a quote on this package and we will include accurate indicative figures which can be firmed up when you are ready to proceed.
2: How long does a project take?
This is the $1m question as it really can depend on your physical location in the Country, the premises itself and how your local Council consider an MOT testing bay within planning terms.
The best answer to give is to state that if the correct permissions are all in place at the outset, your payment is prompt as are your site preparation works and tester / manager training ; then a project can be undertaken in 6-8 weeks.
If complications are experienced with, for example your Council, then is is entirely possible that an additional 8 weeks may be taken up in preparation work to gain the evidence necessary to make the formal application to DVSA.
3: Do GETECH supply equipment for self-assembly?
In a word no. Although your "competency" is the only measurement by which you might be permitted to install your own equipment we strongly believe that in a safety critical environment it is essential that the equipment is installed by an independent body who have experience of installing; not only the equipment concerned, but also the relevant safety regulations controlling a safe installation. You might argue that you are competant to do the work yourself, but to be truly competant you must have 'the training, skills, experience and knowledge' to safely achieve the installation.

4: I want to calibrate my own MoT equipment. Can I do this?
DVSA now do not permit private operators to calibrate their own equipment.
5: I want an MoT bay but I don't want to commit to you, or anyone else until I am ready.
Not a problem whatsoever. We can provide whatever level of support you require - free telephone advice is always available, we can assist in the production of drawings to support an MoT bay application you might be making yourself through to applying for local authority planning permission to meet VOSA requirements - please call us for more information and pricing.
6: I have my own source of lease funding, is this a problem?
Not at all, how you pay the bill is your business and not ours. We can invoice whichever funder you are placed with.
Stage one of getting an MOT premises approved is the VT01 application...
After all, why would you commit to a building lease and the equipment and training costs until you're 100% certain of getting the DVSA to approve you?
Part of the VT01 application to get an MOT test station, requires planning permission or an exemption from your local council or a solicitor.
Our expertise may allow you to avoid the costs of such planning applications
Modern testing equipment captures lots of information about a vehicle in real time, but until recently, the results had to then be manually entered.
Connecting equipment directly to the MOT system reduces errors and save time.
We supply various complete bay packages to suit motorcycle testing as well as Class 4 or Class 4 & 7 test bays for both lift and pit installations.
