If your premises have the available space, it's well worth considering a combined **Class 4 & 7 MOT bay**—even if you originally planned to install a Class 4 bay only.
The additional investment is relatively small compared with a standard Class 4 installation, yet it opens the door to testing a much wider range of vehicles. Class 7 MOTs also command the maximum permitted test fee, while Class 4-only stations may need to reduce their pricing in competitive local markets to attract customers.
The key consideration when planning a Class 4 & 7 bay is ensuring your building meets the required dimensions, particularly ceiling height and access.
As a guide:
To help you assess whether a Class 4 & 7 bay is suitable, you can download our recommended layout drawings at the bottom of this page.
Once you've established that the available space is suitable, the next step is to arrange a GETECH site survey. This allows us to assess your premises, confirm the feasibility of the installation, and provide practical advice before you commit to any significant expenditure.
During the visit, your dedicated project manager will also discuss any site-specific requirements, including workshop layout, reporting facilities, customer viewing areas, parking arrangements, utilities, and planning considerations where applicable.
Our complete MOT bay packages provide a genuine turnkey solution. From civil and electrical works, through to VT01 application support, equipment installation, commissioning, and your first year's calibration and service cover, we manage every stage of the project. In many cases, we can begin the DVSA application process immediately following the site survey.

Stage one of getting an MOT premises approved is the VT01 application...
After all, why would you commit to a building lease and the equipment and training costs until you're 100% certain of getting the DVSA to approve you?

Part of the VT01 application to get an MOT test station, requires planning permission or an exemption from your local council or a solicitor.
Our expertise may allow you to avoid the costs of such planning applications

Modern testing equipment captures lots of information about a vehicle in real time, but until recently, the results had to then be manually entered.
Connecting equipment directly to the MOT system reduces errors and save time.

We not only supply complete bay packages but also individual items of equipment as well; nationwide.
